Eiji Oue
Eiji Oue serves the conductor laureate of Osaka Philharmonic and the honorary conductor of NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover. In 1978, he was invited to Tanglewood Music Centre and met Leonard Bernstein, followed him all over the world for his concert as an assistant. After conducting at Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, he was appointed as the music director of Erie Philharmonic, the music director of Minnesota Orchestra, the artistic advisor of Barcelona Symphony, the chief conductor of NDR Radiophilharmonie and the music director at Osaka Philharmonic. Also he has been a professor at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover. In 2005, Oue has become the first Japanese to conduct at Bayreuth Festival, for the new production ‘Tristan und Isolde’. Oue received Osaka Performing Arts Special Award and the award for Saito Hideo Memorial Fund in 2006, the 42nd Osaka Citizen Award in 2007, and "das Verdienstkreuz 1. Klasse des Niedersachsischen Verdienstordens" in 2009.
